IDC is an educational event that has been hold since 1990 to foster and
develop creativity, technique and international experience of young
future engineers. Every year, rotate the contests host by the
universities in the various parts of the world.
International teams of students take part of the contest, designing and
building remotely controlled robots. The IDC is not a competition of one
country or university against another, but an exercise of communication
and cooperation among students, professors and instructors from the
different Engineering Schools involved. The IDC is an unforgettable
experience for all.
The main goals of International Design Contest are simulating
creativity, application of theoretical knowledge in practice,
cooperation among countries and having fun.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology host IDC this year. On July 29th, the teams were
formed, and the rules were revealed. The teams have only 12 days to
design and build their machines, using the material provided by the kit.
Each team received and identical kit containing approximately 60 parts.
With their creativity and their basic Engineering knowledge, each one of
the teams have to work cooperatively in order to overcome the challenges
proposed by the theme of IDC Robocon 2019.
